The other day a friend of mine invited me to join Facebook. People have done so before, one of them relatively recently, and I haven’t felt the need to join yet another social network Besides, apart from being a major timewaster, there are things about Facebook that I just don’t like. For instance not being able to upload any photos. Apparently Facebook will own the rights to whatever material I post.
So… Despite all that, there are reasons I might feel I should join Facebook anyway. It does seem to be a good way to keep in touch with my friends, but on the other hand, so far I haven’t had much luck with that. It seems most of my friends (and the majority of them are online friends) are quietly working themselves to death. Most people seem to be doing that. Working themselves to death. I blame my boyfriend-less status on that. It’s either that or I’m ugly, boring and weird. Which is it? LOL.

Found this meme on another blog, but I felt the list was too long and unwieldy. Worse, most of the characters I’d only barely heard of so I couldn’t decide which ones I liked enough. So, this is my list of shaggable (or not so shaggable) male characters (note that it’s about the characters, not the actors). I chose to add only characters I like to this list. There are none of the ones I can’t stand to see at all. You do as you like. In fact, if you prefer, use any character (female too). Whatever you like.

Another Swedish song: Niclas Wahlgren – I himlen har jag aldrig varit (I’ve never been to heaven) I love this guy and I love this song, that he wrote for his son, Tim. Fatherly advice for a kid growing up.
If you’re interested, check out this video, to see what Niclas looked like in the mid 1980’s. The clip is from a movie, so taken out of context it will most likely be incomprehensible, but it will show you the young Niclas. First I must warn my readers (listeners/viewers) that this song is in Swedish. It’s a great song, by a guy I’m crazy about. His girlfriend will have to forgive me. LOL.
On Monday I went to hear a man talk about his research about a match industry. That’s right, a place where they made matches. It was quite interesting, but in a way, sad too. So many people, mainly women and children, had to work for minimum wages and get sick from the phosphorus the matches were dipped in. My grandmother told my mother that in her class in school there were girls whose fathers’ work was dipping matches in phosphorus and the kids were clearly retarded, had speech impairments etc. Their parents often died from exposure to the chemicals. Their faces and hands turned pink and then they died, apparently. The local historian that I had the great fortune to meet on a few occasions, was mentioned too, and that made me sad. He was such a fantastic man and will be sorely missed. It’s like this town will never be the same without him.
Don’t get me wrong. This man – who actually is my former principal – had done his research well – and despite his own misgivings, his voice carried fine too. He told us he was disappointed his voice was so weak these days, since it used to be his instrument of work, as it were. It was scary to see the way he’d aged since I last saw him. He probably wasn’t exactly young at the time, it was kind of hard to tell for me as a teenager. All grownups looked the same, and besides I only ever saw him close up a few times, but still, I don’t think I’d have known if he hadn’t talked about his former job. Oh, well, that’s how it goes. I must try to get used to it, but I hate living in the same town I went to school in. There’s really no one from my old school I’d like to meet. Well, there was one guy, but sadly he’s dead so that’s not going to happen…
Another thing that bothered me was that all the other people in the audience were old. Retired people. It makes me sad to see old age and especially a whole room full.
