British tv series from 2004

The series is set in a grim, nameless Lancashire town (in northern England) and has as its focus two policemen who take the law into their own hands when they think that a suspected paedophile murderer may get away with his crime. The story follows the aftermath of their actions and much of it revolves around their home/social relationships.
